It must have been at least 2 years ago that I first saw a piece of work by Helen Ivory at an exhibition at The Forum in Norwich.

Pictured is "The Story Of The Eye"
I am delighted to have my own piece of Helen's work. It is in the studio, where I can look and muse about the eye, the story, and the telling.

Helen Ivory will be having a solo show at Anteros Arts Foundation, Norwich, Norfolk in January 2015.

Get a piece of her work before you wish you had! Link to Anteros Arts web site below.

Working out the right title for a painting can take time. The title of this painting was initially Hands Up, it was temporary as it just said what the viewer could see. I thought maybe Invasion would work but it didn't and finally the right title surfaced.

The painting will be part of a Charitable Art Exhibition/party at Stew Gallery in Norwich on 7th December to raise funds for Nelsons Journey which is a local charity helping bereaved children (find out more here http://www.nelsonsjourney.org.uk/).

All the paintings exhibited at this event will be auctioned at the end of the day with a minimum of 25% of sales going to the charity.

The painting is in oil and measures 37 x 47cms and is framed.
Please email Brian Korteling [email protected] if you would like to leave a bid for it.
Postage will depend on where you live - UK or abroad and likely to be between £18 and £60.

Foreign Policy :  oil on canvas 37x47cms framed and signed on reverse..

Heavy rain and leaden skies. So I was really cheered by seeing a link to this work by Chilean street artist Dasic, who lives and works in New York .. here is a link to more gorgeousness .. http://www.thisiscolossal.com/2013/10/dasic/    I would love it if  the flyovers on the motorway down to London were like these...

It seems my Blog, Facebook & Twitter are out of sync and in an attempt to get them all working together and playing nicely - I am posting "Flying Talk" again.

I love the Toy Story Films - well anything Pixar, I adore good cartoons as well. The Japanese "Spirited Away" is  amazing.
When I was about 7, I wanted to work for Walt Disney;  I don't think I would have lasted long though.

There will be a small bit of adjusting here and there once I have a frame around it.

The painting is looking good and I will be interested to see who likes it and why, so give me your thoughts under the post please.

It was grandson Oscar's 11th Birthday last weekend, we drove back from Norwich, after taking in his card and present, through torrential rain and hail and some of the them became big as they  clumped together. Oscar and some friends had been at Go Ape in the morning - high walkways and zip wires in the forest, I have no head for heights but they were lucky with the weather .  http://goape.co.uk/

Buzz and the Bird is almost done. I am going to put it face to the wall while I work on Paper Swans. That way when I turn it around the areas that need work will be easier to see. Leaving it to dry a bit will also help when it comes to the finer detail.
I think it will be a busy week.

mari french & hunstanton

This still life includes Origami swans, a book my friend Helen gave me, and some pink tissue paper. I would have preferred these 3 still life paintings to be much larger but they had to be smaller pieces. Its all good discipline.

Saturday was Helen's birthday and we went to see Mari French's exhibition in King's Lynn - fabulous work and almost all in acrylic/mixed media.
At Greyfriars Gallery - near Greyfriars Tower.

On the way back we stopped at Hunstanton, it was warm and still - the light on the vastness of the Wash was totally beguiling,  Hunstanton beach felt stragely primeval;
I could shut out the trio metal detecting, the rock pool gazers and dog walkers and imagine tree ferns and brachiosaurus wandering about.

Not any on this photo though - or that group of family and friends would be moving a bit faster....
